Chimacum Creek Management & Improvement Plan

Jefferson County Commissioners, Jefferson County Conservation District, and WSU Extension teamed up in 2024-2025 to solicit input from the community about Chimacum Creek drainage issues and potential solutions. The Conservation District led the development of a drainage management and improvement plan for the watershed, which resulted in the Chimacum Drainage District General Maintenance and Habitat Enhancement Plan with financial support from the Centennial Clean Water Fund under the authority of the Washington State Department of Ecology via Jefferson County Public Health. Community engagement began with an open house on February 28, 2024 to introduce the issues and planning process, and to solicit input and feedback. Here is a link to the first open house slide presentation. The open house was followed by two focus group meetings to discuss stream conditions and issues and a third focus group meeting about management options, including potential implementation mechanisms. A postcard with a link to an online survey was mailed to all property owners in the Drainage District in March 2025. An open house was held on March 26, 2025 to present survey results and discuss options for moving forward. Here is a link to the slides from the March 26, 2025 open house.
