Native Plant Sale

Farm Stewardship
Jefferson County Conservation District can offer you ideas and incentives for creating a barnyard, pasture and cropland that effectively manages mud, weeds and manure.

Forest Stewardship
Do you need to write or update a forest management plan for your forested property? This template may be helpful as you update your personal management plan, and you may become simultaneously eligible for a variety of programs.

Habitat Enhancement
We work with our partners in conservation to offer technical and, in some cases, financial assistance to help you develop habitat enhancement projects on your property, helping you become the best land steward you can.

Backyard Conservation
The Natural Landscaping Course will be offered this spring beginning April 14th. Registration is required. The interactive three-class, two-field trip course emphasizes native plants and sustainable landscape design and maintenance practices.

Water Quality & Fisheries Monitoring
Jefferson County Conservation District has been monitoring water quality in eastern Jefferson County since 1993. Watersheds monitored include: Chimacum, Discovery Bay, Ludlow, and Hood Canal.

How to work with us…

A Conservation District Planner will come visit your property.

This is a collaborative process; together we build a plan that you can use.

Your planner conducts an inventory of your land that can include:
Soil tests and slope of the land
Type and number of animals
Pasture, hayland, and/or forestland
Streams, ponds, ditches and/or other water bodies
Weed and pasture grass identification
Mud & Manure management
Roof run-off diversion and collection -
Once the inventory is complete, your planner assists you in evaluating the condition and current practices of your property in order create a specialized plan to best manage your land for economic and ecological sustainability.
