Orca Recovery Day

Orca Recovery Day 2026 is Saturday, October 17th!

We hope you’ll join Jefferson County Conservation District and the North Olympic Salmon Coalition (NOSC) for another volunteer planting on October 17th! Check back for more details and registration link.

Our amazing volunteers planted 200 native trees and shrubs to extend the Snow Creek riparian forest buffer for Orca Recovery Day 2025. Thanks so much to our partners at NOSC for co-hosting the event for the fifth year in a row.

If you want more volunteer opportunities to benefit salmon and help restore habitat, be sure to check out NOSC’s events list: https://nosc.org/events/

Salmon and Snow Creeks are important habitat for Endangered Hood Canal summer chum salmon. Recent studies have shown that when Chinook salmon, the preferred prey of Southern Resident Orcas, is in short supply, they’ll supplement their diet with other species, including chum salmon.
